It has been revealed that Instagram plans to increase the length of TikTok competitor Reels videos to up to 10 minutes. Normally, this time was limited to 3 minutes.
Instagram is one of the most important competitors of TikTok with its short video format called ā€¯Reels” Dec. That’s exactly why the platform is trying to innovate and get ahead of the feature that millions of people use regularly.
Alessandro Paluzzi, who we know with his leaks about mobile applications, shared a post made via his X (Twitter) account today, revealing that a significant change could be made to Reels. The change showed that the feature will gradually move away from the short video format that we are used to.
The length of Reels videos may soon be up to 10 minutes
According to Paluzzi’s post, Instagram plans to increase the length of Reels videos to 10 minutes. Previously, Reels videos up to a maximum length of 3 minutes could be added. In the two screenshots shared by Paluzzi, we can see that this time will increase from 3 to 10.
Meta or Instagram have not provided any verification regarding this change, which will extend Reels videos. However, Paluzzi’s leaks usually turn out to be real. Therefore, there is a high probability that the feature will be officially introduced soon.
Instagram’s increase in Reels time to 10 minutes will be a move to compete with TikTok. TikTok already offers users the option to add videos up to 10 minutes long. Paying October 20th, the platform even allowed 20-minute videos that could be viewed by paying a fee.
